February 2009

Sami finally got her cast off a couple of weeks ago. The doc said everything healed fine, but Sami is still not walking normal. She walks as if she still has her cast on...up on her tippy toes. She goes back to the doctor this week, and we are going to learn some exercises to correct that. I haven't taken many pictures lately due to a broken camera, but I finally got a new one...and just in time for a visit from Mom, Harold, and Libby. They came in for Valentine's Day, and Grandma Candy brought matching outfits for Sami and Libby. We spent the day at Grandma Mae's and Grandpa Jim's. Sami enjoyed their new dog Pepper that I wish I had pictures of. We had a wonderful dinner prepared by Mae. Claire played on the Wii a little too long...her arms were killing her later that night.....Wii-itis. It was a great weekend with the fam.

After many attempts to get a picture of the girls in their matching outfits

This is before Sami tried to grab the book and the tears began

Mom reading "The 12 Bugs of Christmas" to Sami

Claire reading "Easter Bugs" to Libby

I do have a book called "Love Bugs", but the girls liked the other holidays better I guess.

New Year...not off to a great start!

Sami has a fractured leg...we don't know how it happened. She was just walking around the house as usual, fell as usual, but she wouldn't stand back up. After her nap, she still wouldn't stand up, so we took her to the emergency room.
Here is Sami in the hospital crib...she thought that was a fun new toy. We were in the emergency room for 5 hours. She managed much better than her parents during that time. This was before we knew what was wrong with her leg.
This was after the tramatic x-ray experience & finding out Sami has a buckle fracture. They put a splint on her temporarily.
At home, she didn't let the splint stop her at all. She learned very quickly how to walk with it on.

5 days later, Sami got her cast on. She calls it her boo boo.

Once again, she learned very quickly how to walk in her cast. It's quite impressive how she gets around. She really misees her bath time which she calls "bubble" She asks for a "bubble" several times a day. The sponge baths just aren't cutting it. Other than that, Sami hasn't complained a bit about her cast. She's a trooper.
3 more weeks to go...She may have to get a new cast on this week. She has done everything imaginable to the cast. The heel is worn out and soft from her banging it on the floor...she likes the loud sound it makes. She pooped all down the back of it, mostly on the outside. It's worn out along her toes, so it's causing a blister on her toe. So, the doc said she may get a new one this week.
